Worldover, AI operating system for substance-based businesses

Part of the Worldover AI operating system

Certificate of analysis softwaregenerated from the released batch.

Most COAs are still typed up from lab results into a template, one customer at a time. Worldover generates the certificate of analysis from the released batch results, against the specification the customer agreed, and sends it with the dispatch.

    Quick answer

Certificate of analysis (COA) software produces the document that confirms a batch meets its specification, using the actual test results from quality release. It should apply customer-specific limits and formats, prevent certificates for unreleased or out-of-spec batches, and keep a record of what was sent. Worldover generates COAs from the same batch and specification records used for release.

    • COAs generated from released test results, not retyped
    • Customer-specific specifications and formats applied automatically
    • No certificate for unreleased or out-of-spec batches
    • Sent with the dispatch and stored against the lot
    • Supplier COAs checked on receipt against your specification

What to look for in certificate of analysis software

    • Certificates generated from batch results, not typed into a template.
    • Limits and methods taken from the current specification for that customer.
    • Out-of-specification results blocked from appearing on a certificate without review.
    • Customer-specific layouts, fields and languages where needed.
    • Approval by an authorised person before a certificate is issued.
    • Certificates sent with the delivery or available to the customer on request.
    • Incoming supplier certificates checked against your own specification.
    • A searchable history of every certificate issued, by batch, product and customer.

Why COAs cause so much work

Each customer may want different parameters, limits or layouts. Retyping results into templates is slow and error-prone, and a wrong value on a COA is a quality incident in its own right.

    Incoming COAs matter too

Supplier certificates arrive by email and are filed without being checked against your own specification. Worldover reads incoming COAs, compares the values to your limits and flags anything outside them before the lot is released.

    How Worldover produces certificates

Once a batch is released, Worldover builds the COA from its results against the customer's agreed specification. Willow drafts it, quality approves, and it goes with the delivery documents.

A worked example: shipping with the right certificate

A chemical distributor ships a drum of solvent to a pharmaceutical customer who requires their own certificate format with two extra tests. When the batch results are complete, the certificate is generated in that customer's format with their limits applied.

One result is close to the limit, so the certificate waits for quality review rather than issuing automatically. The reviewer approves, and the certificate is attached to the dispatch documents. When the customer asks for a copy six months later, it's found by batch number in seconds.

    What the certificate depends on

A certificate is only as reliable as the results and specification behind it. Worldover holds both on the same record, so the certificate can't drift from them, but results still need to be entered or imported from your lab.

Worldover is built for chemicals and cosmetics companies and their distributors. It isn't a LIMS, though it can work alongside one.
