China Adds Four New Ingredients to Existing Cosmetic Inventory
On 19 August 2026, China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) announced the fifth dynamic adjustment of the Inventory of Existing Cosmetic Ingredients in China (IECIC). The update follows the expiration of the mandatory safety monitoring period for four previously new cosmetic ingredients.
The ingredients, which have now completed their three-year post-marketing safety monitoring, are Cetyl Diglyceryl Tris(trimethylsiloxy)silylethyl Dimethicone, Nicotinamide Mononucleotide, Bakuchiol, and Azelamidopropyl Dimethyl Amine. Their successful transition confirms their safety profile under the NMPA’s surveillance framework.
These four substances have been formally incorporated into the IECIC, officially recognising them as existing ingredients. This change simplifies the regulatory requirements for their use in cosmetic products placed on the Chinese market, moving them from a stricter new-ingredient regime to the standard framework for existing substances.
