ASEAN Updates Cosmetic Directive Annexes
The ASEAN Cosmetic Committee (ACC) has adopted an update to the annexes of the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive (ACD). The decision, made at the 40th ACC meeting, came into force on 30 June 2024. The updates amend the regulated lists of substances permitted or prohibited for use in cosmetic products across the member states.
The amendments introduce changes to Annex II (list of substances which must not form part of the composition of cosmetic products), Annex III (list of substances which cosmetic products must not contain except subject to the restrictions laid down), and Annex VI (list of preservatives allowed).
These updates necessitate that brands review their formulations and Product Information Files (PIFs) to ensure continued compliance. Adjustments to product dossiers may be required to maintain market access across the ASEAN region.
You may access the updated annex information here.
